Being an \u2018overpronator<\/a>\u2019 or a \u2018high deviator\u2019 can put a lot of stress on your feet and lower legs. It\u2019s even thought to lead to injury if your shoes don\u2019t provide the right level of shock absorption for your running style.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

So, what exactly is pronation? Well, it\u2019s the way your foot rolls forward to absorb the impact of hitting the ground as you run. Roll too far inwards and you\u2019re an \u2018overpronator\u2019, putting a lot of pressure on your big toe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Conversely, if you land on the outer edge of your foot and rely more on your little toes, you\u2019re classed as a \u2018supinator\u2019. While \u2018supinators\u2019 are more likely to have high arches, overpronating can be a result of flat feet. Taking part in some gait analysis is always a great first port of call if you\u2019re not sure what your footstrike is like.<\/span><\/p>\n
