Breca Swimrun this weekend announced that it would be cancelling its entire race series in 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In an email to competitors signed up to race a Breca event this year, the organisers said: \u201cIt is with great sadness that we write to inform you that we have cancelled all the Breca races in the UK & overseas for 2022 as we are unable to put into place everything required to run the events safely.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are of course extremely disappointed to make this decision and realise it is unwelcome news for all our athletes and the other stakeholders who help make Breca so special.\u201d<\/p>\n

The email continues: \u201cBreca and the team have faced a number of challenges over the past couple of years, like so many people in the community, and cancelling the events for 2022 has only added to a very difficult chapter for everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Athletes with entry into one or more of Breca\u2019s events in 2022 will be contacted regarding refunds. The 2022 series was made up of races in the Gower, Coniston, Loch Lomond and Jersey, which 220<\/em>\u2018s very own Kate Milsom raced in 2021<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Finishing the email, the organisers say: \u201cWe will be evaluating our options over the next few weeks for 2023 and beyond, but in the meantime we thank you for your support in the past, and your continued patience and kindness, and hope we will see you on the start line in 2023.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news leaves those hoping to complete a swimrun in the UK this year low on options, though one event still going ahead is the Otillo race<\/a><\/strong> on 4-5 June on the Isles of Scilly.<\/p>\n

The news comes on the same weekend that the organisers of the Outlaw Triathlon Series have announced that their newest event, Outlaw Half Woburn, will also be cancelled.<\/p>\n

Event Director Iain Hamilton said: \u201cThis decision has been taken after careful consideration of several factors which will inhibit our ability to deliver the experience that athletes enjoy and expect from an Outlaw event.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn comparison with other Outlaw events, the number of entries has been low. We unfortunately had limited date choices for 2022 and there were already other major events taking place on that weekend which had opened entries well ahead of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outlaw Half Woburn was set to take place on 12 June. Other races being held that weekend include the WTCS race in Leeds, Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire, the Slateman Triathlon, Royale Windsor Triathlon and several others.<\/p>\n

The rest of the Outlaw Triathlon Series<\/a><\/strong> will continue as planned.<\/p>\n
