<\/p>
British ace Alistair Brownlee<\/a> and Norwegian Gustav Iden<\/a> will not be racing in Saturday\u2019s Ironman World Championship.<\/strong><\/p>\n Brownlee confirmed the news in a Story on his Instagram account<\/a><\/strong>, saying: \u201cAbsolutely gutted to say I\u2019ve decided not to start tomorrow. I feel really rough today with a sickness I think has been in my system.<\/p>\n \u201cThanks for everyone who\u2019s helped me get here. We\u2019ve worked so hard over the last few months. Very best of luck to everyone on the start line.\u201d<\/p>\n Referring to his Sub7 attempt<\/a><\/strong>, which is due to take place at the start of June, Brownlee added: \u201cNeed to make sure I\u2019m 100% for four weeks time.\u201d<\/p>\n Confirmation of Brownlee\u2019s withdrawal came shortly after news broke that two-time and reigning 70.3 world champion Iden would also be unable to race due to illness.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/div> <\/section> He\u2019d been tipped by many as a favourite for this race, having delivered in St George the year before when he won his second 70.3 world title<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n However, both Iden and training partner Kristian Blummenfelt<\/a><\/strong> are understood to have been suffering from colds in the run up to the race.
