Alistair Brownlee and Kristian Blummenfelt have announced their pacing teams for the bike leg of next month\u2019s Sub7 challenge<\/a>, with both going for a similar approach to their selection.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The bike leg is arguably the most important section of the challenge \u2013and any race \u2013 in terms of time savings. So it\u2019s no wonder that Team Brownlee<\/a><\/strong> and Blummenfelt have been very selective in their choices of pacers.<\/p>\n

Date announced for Sub7 and Sub8 challenges<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>
Both Olympians have selected some of the world\u2019s fastest time triallists on the continental and UK circuit. Team Brownlee\u2019s bike pacing team is made up of eight national-level and elite cyclists, five of which are on the Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling Team.<\/p>\n
The team includes Commonwealth Games medallists Alex Dowsett, Charlie Tanfield and Harry Tanfield, plus their younger teammates Ollie Peckover and Zeb Kyfinn. There\u2019ll also be previous Ribble Weldtite rider John Archibald and student athlete Alex Pritchard, with national champion Dan Bigham rounding off the group.<\/p>\n

Nigel Mitchell, Brownlee\u2019s technical project manager for the Sub7 attempt, said: \u201cThese athletes have specialised in team time trialling and their performance coach and rider Jacob Tipper has brought these riders together.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been very fortunate that we\u2019ve got what we think are some of the best riders in the world for this type of event.\u201d Tipper will act as directeur sportif on race day, calling the shots during the bike leg.<\/p>\n
Mitchell adds: \u201cEverybody feels that they\u2019re working as a team to support Alistair with this, so much so that they\u2019ve all committed not just to the event itself, but also to specific training.\u201d<\/p>\n
