Ironman, Olympic and World Triathlon champion Kristian Blummenfelt<\/a> couldn\u2019t be drawn over whether he will beat fellow Norwegian Gustav Iden<\/a> on Saturday, but confidently predicts the duo will fill the top two podium spots.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Blummenfelt on\u2026 Gustav Iden<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cBoth of our dreams are not just to win, but to finish first and second. It\u2019s about the team feeling,\u201d he explained to 220<\/em> at the start of race week in Hawaii.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPeople tend to think he\u2019s the best at middle distance and I\u2019m the best at long and short distance, but I think it\u2019s more down to who has the better day.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday [Sunday] we ran 40km at race pace. He was quite strong and with 5mins to go we said: \u2018Should we sprint now?\u2019 and he was like: \u2018No, let\u2019s wait until next weekend.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Blummenfelt on\u2026 Magnus Ditlev<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The 28-year-old points to 6ft 5in Dane and Challenge Roth winner Magnus Ditlev<\/strong><\/a> as being the biggest threat to their chances of a Norwegian one-two, which would be a repeat of the PTO Canadian Open<\/strong><\/a> from Edmonton in July.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMagnus\u2019s weapon is the bike and he\u2019s still improving his run,\u201d Blummenfelt said. \u201cEvery time he gets stronger and stronger in the marathon. If he\u2019s getting away [on the bike] that could be dangerous, but we will try and keep him under control.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not getting out of the water with him. If he\u2019s with me, I\u2019ve either done something wrong or he has been putting on fins! <\/blockquote> <\/div> <\/div> <\/div>\n<\/div>

Blummenfelt on\u2026 Patrick Lange<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As for the rest of the field, he believes even two-time winner Patrick Lange<\/strong><\/a>, who holds the run-course record and posted three of the fastest 10 marathons ever, is unlikely to have the footspeed to contend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d rather put my money on the new generation. I expect the fastest run split to lower the course record and I think Gustav can do more damage on the run than Patrick. But then Patrick tends to rise when he comes to the island, so who knows.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
