While this can sometimes make a shoe feel less responsive, this wasn\u2019t the case with the Peregrine 13 and it felt dynamic to run in.\u00a0<\/p><p>Also worth a mention, as it\u2019s often a rarity in trail shoes these days, is a thicker than normal sock liner. This cushioned feature adds an extra bit of comfort and gave the feeling of a little slither of luxury.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The gusseted tongue is made of the same mesh material and there is padding around the heel helping it feel comfortable and secure.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How does it fit?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2><p>While the toe box is relatively wide, I found the fit snug. This isn\u2019t a bad thing depending on what you\u2019re asking the shoe to do. \u00a0<\/p><p>We want to lock down our feet to provide more stability on more technical terrain and have less movement than if we were running more hard-packed, groomed trails.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>For those who prefer a roomier fit, a wide fitting is available.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The straightforward lacing means that adjustments are easy to make for those with higher insteps than others. <\/p><p>I tested this shoe on a variety of trails and found I could focus on the run rather than each foot placement.\u00a0<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s the ride like?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/46\/2024\/02\/saucony-peregrine-13-toe-box-2.jpg?fit=1024,800\" alt=\"Saucony Peregrine 13 toe box\" class=\"wp-image-155079\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Peregrine 13 has a flexible forefoot, which helps when running uphill (Credit: Steve Sayers)<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>The Peregrine 13 has a forefoot rocker that helps increase foot turnover and therefore the ability to pick up the pace when trails flattened off.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>As an addition, good flexibility through the forefoot means that wearers can easily go up onto their toes for uphill running and on more technical terrain.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The mesh upper is soft and drains well. Structure and therefore foot stability is provided by film overlays that run the length of the shoe on both sides.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Compared to other trail shoes, the Peregrine 13 is at the lower end of the weight category 238g (UK5.5), which makes it feel agile to run in.\u00a0<\/p><ul><li><strong><a href=\"\/gear\/run\/run-clothing\/best-waterproof-running-jackets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Best waterproof running jackets<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"\/gear\/run\/run-shoes\/best-trail-running-shoes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Best trail running shoes for men and women<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.220triathlon.com\/gear\/run\/best-running-head-torches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Best head torches for running<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-else-should-i-know\"><strong>What else should I know?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h2><p>The addition of a gaiter hook at the forefoot means the Peregrine 13 can quickly be upgraded to be even more versatile in wetter or snowier conditions.\u00a0<\/p><p>It\u2019s also worth mentioning that the Peregrine 13 is described as a vegan shoe and contains recycled materials.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Our only real niggle is the colour. Why, when you have such a great trail shoe as the Peregrine 13 built for muddy adventures, do you make it in white.
