Des Moines in Iowa is set to be the newest location for the Ironman North American Championship in 2022. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The news comes as organisers have decided to switch the popular 70.3 event that took place there earlier in the year to a full-distance event, which is\u00a0scheduled to take place on 12 June 2022.<\/p>\n

The course will follow much of the scenic middle-distance route, taking athletes along a 3.8km swim in Gray\u2019s Lake near downtown Des Moines. Athletes will then roll through the picturesque Water Works Park, West Des Moines and alongside the traditional cornfields of Polk County and Dallas County on the 180km bike course.<\/p>\n
The race will conclude in a flat and fast multi-lap route that will take in the sights on Racoon River, the Pappajohn Sculpture Park and what is set to be a lively and spectator-lined downtown finish.<\/p>\n

Registration for the Piedmontese Ironman North American Championship Des Moines will open on 1 November 2021 at Ironman.com<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n
