Join us on a journey through the lap of luxury where pets are not just companions but cherished members of the elite, living lives that redefine the concept of pampering.
Indulging our furry friends has reached new heights of opulence, as Crufts 2024, the famous dog show, will see the launch of the world’s most expensive dog food.
The world’s most expensive dog food?
Artisan dog-food producer Honey’s Real Dog Food is set to redefine canine gastronomy with the launch of Honey’s Bespoke, an extravagant dog food that promises to be top of the shopping list for dog-loving celebrities.
Designed for dogs with specific health or dietary requirements, this exclusive service offers a variety of the finest organic and wild ingredients, all packaged and labelled with care.
The cost varies based on ingredients and preparation time, with an average monthly expense of around £260 per dog. In comparison, Battersea Dog’s Home cites an average monthly dog feeding cost of £10 to £50.
Beyond bespoke: pampering pooches around the globe
With tales of indulging precious pets with fine dining experiences, we were inspired to find out what other luxuries have been enjoyed by some of the world’s most pampered pooches. From designer doggy wardrobes to lavish spa treatments, read on to discover how some lucky canines live a life of luxury.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Scottish Terrier, Fala
Considered one of the most indulged pets in White House history, FDR’s dog, Fala, a Scottish Terrier, enjoyed a life of luxury.
He slept in a special chair at the foot of FDR’s bed, received a daily bone on the president’s breakfast tray, and was adored not only by FDR but also by White House staff. He even received his own fan mail and accompanied the President on trips all over the world.
Leona Helmsley’s Maltese, Trouble
Trouble, the little maltese who was the cherished companion of the late hotel heiress Leona Helmsley, had its own limo and wore a diamond collar.
Helmsley bequeathed a staggering $12 million to her beloved four-legged friend, which was just as well, because maintaining the dog’s exquisite appearance required an annual expenditure of $8,000 on grooming alone. Trouble also had the luxury of a full-time bodyguard, and an annual budget of $1,200 was allocated for the dog.
Paris Hilton’s Teacup Chihuahua, Tinkerbell
While many celebrities, such as Missy Elliot and Lady Gaga, are known for pampering their pets with designer outfits, Paris Hilton’s little dog takes the biscuit – she’s been given her own book!
Tinkerbell showcased her literary flair by “ghost-writing” The Tinkerbell Hilton Diaries: My Life Tailing Paris Hilton.
She looks the part too, with Paris Hilton dressing her in pink Chanel sweaters, Louis Vuitton puppy slippers, and her preferred mode of transportation: being stylishly carried around in Hilton’s purse or in a blanket.
Mariah Carey’s Jack Russell Terriers
Not only are Mariah’s pooches pampered with a weekly spa treatment in Beverley Hills, they are also said to have their own chauffeur and follow the pop sensation in their own personal jet if they’re not allowed to accompany her on flights.
