Police are appealing for information to help identify the dog and its owner after the fatal deer attack in the London Park.
Richmond Park deer attacked by dog “put down due to the severity of its injuries”
The video – which may be distressing to watch – shows a herd of deer running, and a single deer being chased by a spaniel away from the herd and across a road.
The Royal Parks has confirmed that the deer was attacked by the dog, and “sadly, the deer had to be put down due to the severity of its injuries.”
While dogs can be walked in Richmond Park, it is illegal to allow them to chase or attack deer, and they must be kept on a lead “if there is any doubt about a dog’s temperament or recall ability” and during certain times of the year.
