Gather with friends and family to share autumn\u2019s bountiful harvest <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n

After the active, often-hectic seasons of spring and summer, autumn is a time of slowing down, of pausing to reflect as the evenings draw in. It\u2019s an opportunity to give ourselves a bit of TLC, too. We are living through challenging times of change, and the simple comforts of the countryside have never been more needed. <\/p>\n\n

With autumn being a period of fruitfulness \u2013 of wild foraged nuts and berries, of delicious harvests from the veg bed, of exciting locally grown provender in the shops \u2013 it\u2019s often food that we turn to when we need comfort. Good home-cooked meals make us feel satisfied, calm, cared-for and care-free, especially when shared with friends and family. <\/p>\n\n

So this wise little guide is a celebration of comfort food, with an extra emphasis on simplicity, using ingredients that are sustainable and farmed in a way that enhances the land and its wildlife. There is comfort in that knowledge. <\/p>\n\n

I\u2019m also delighted to welcome a long-term hero of mine, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. His delicious recipes add extra flavour and wholesomeness to classic dishes that nourish body and spirit. Enjoy! <\/p>\n\n
