\u201c<\/span>I quite often forget to take photographs when I\u2019m out walking. I tend to get immersed in my surroundings, lost in mini experiences and focused only in the moment. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

It\u2019s only when I\u2019m home and I\u2019m replaying some of the memories that I curse my brainlessness at not taking out my camera. Mainly because I want to share my excitement with family and friends. And, in turn, I love to see where friends are exploring and the wildlife they\u2019ve encountered. As Simon Whaley says<\/a>, the way someone takes a photograph, their style and subject matter is so much part of them\u2013 and so wonderfully revealing. So revel in this celebration of all things countryside and photographic and be inspired by the experts. And send your favourites to us \u2013 we love to see your work and we print the best images in the mag. <\/p>\n\n

And a final word from me. This is my last BBC Countryfile Magazine. <\/em>After nearly 14 years, 180 magazines and millions of words, I am stepping down as editor to spend more time exploring the countryside I\u2019ve celebrated within these pages. You will still find me hosting the BBC Countryfile Magazine <\/em>Plodcast, however! I\u2019d like to say a huge thank you to my wonderfully talented team \u2013 and to you, the readers, for your loyalty and support.
