The winner of the Countryfile Calendar competition was announced on Sunday 1st October 2023. Read on to find out what was chosen as the winning photo for 2024 \u2013 which will grace the cover \u2013 and view the 12 images that made up the shortlist.<\/p>

The theme for this year’s competition is ‘Wild Britain’. The judging team, chaired by Countryfile presenter John Craven<\/a>, included wildlife photographer Hamza Yassin<\/a> and radio broadcaster Edith Bowman. The judges selected their favourite 12 photographs before public voting opened to pick the overall winner.<\/p>

The 12 images will feature in the Countryfile Calendar for 2024, which will be sold in aid of the BBC Children in Need appeal<\/a>. The overall winner of the competition will feature on the cover of the calendar, which has raised more than \u00a326 million for the charity since it launched in 1998.<\/p>

Who won the BBC Countryfile Calendar competition for 2024?<\/h2>
The winner was Warren Price with ‘Ice Fishing’, chosen for the front cover of the calendar and for the month of December.<\/p>
“I never imagined when I put the picture in that it would get to the final 12…” Warren told John Craven on Countryfile.<\/p>
Warren took the shot in Bedfordshire at his local nature reserve. <\/p>
“Last December we had really heavy snowfall,” he told John. “It was bitterly cold and it just gave me enough time to get that shot.”<\/p>
Warren added: “It’s a legendary calendar and a complete honour,” to appear on the cover of the calendar.<\/p>

What is the prize for the Countryfile Calendar competition?<\/h2>
The winning photo will appear on the front of the Countryfile Calendar.<\/p>
The person who takes the winning photo receives a gift card to the value of \u00a31,000, which can be spent on photographic equipment of their choice, at a number of outlets.<\/p>
The person who takes the photo the judges like best receives a gift card to the value of \u00a3500, which can also be spent on photographic equipment at a number of outlets.<\/p>

What is the Countryfile Calendar competition?<\/h2>
Every year, Countryfile opens its calendar competition to budding photographers across the UK to submit their best wildlife, landscape and nature shots. Each year has a different theme, and is judged by the long-serving Countryfile presenter John Craven<\/a>, along with two other judges. This year John was joined by wildlife photographer Hamza Yassin<\/a> and radio broadcaster Edith Bowman.<\/p>
After the deadline passed, the judges selected a shortlist of 12 photographs. The final round of voting belonged to the general public, who chose the winner and runners up.<\/p>
What is the theme of the 2024 Countryfile Calendar?<\/h2>
This year\u2019s theme is \u201cWild Britain\u201d.<\/p>
The theme was open to your personal interpretation but Countryfile said it was looking for stunning photographs of the landscape, its wildlife, agriculture or recreation. It was up to you how you interpreted \u201cWild Britain\u201d.<\/p>
