Fatality figures\u00a0show\u00a0alarming\u00a0impact of\u00a0fireworks on\u00a0horses <\/p>
New statistics from the British Horse Society<\/a> reveal the devastating toll fireworks has taken on equines since 2010.\u00a0A frightening\u00a049 horses have been killed, 317 injured, and 1,468 firework-related incidents have been\u00a0recorded with the equine charity.<\/strong><\/p> It\u2019s important to remember that horses, being flight animals, are highly sensitive to loud noises and sudden bursts of light. Fireworks can trigger extreme fear responses, leading them to bolt or injure themselves\u00a0in an attempt to\u00a0escape. This can cause significant harm not only to the horses but also to the surrounding environment, with potential damage to\u00a0people, property or\u00a0stables.<\/p> Des Payne <\/strong>from the British Horse Society says:\u00a0\u201cWhile fireworks can bring joy to\u00a0some\u00a0people, they often result in significant distress for horses. We urge anyone planning to set off fireworks to be mindful of the animals nearby.<\/p> “Attending organised public displays is a safer alternative, as these events are scheduled, allowing horse owners to take precautions.
