Royalist forces under Sir Andrew Harcla defeated a rebel army under the earls of Lancaster and Hereford at Boroughbridge in Yorkshire. Hereford was killed; Lancaster was captured on the next day and later executed outside his own castle at Pontefract.<\/p>\n
