It explores the various roles that women fulfilled and how they were able to exploit these for political, as well as financial gain. In so doing, it introduces a dazzling cast of characters: from <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.historyextra.com\/period\/tudor\/anne-boleyn-facts-elizabeth-henry-wife-birth-death\/&quot;\">Anne Boleyn<\/a>\u2019s infamous sister-in-law, Lady Rochford to Mary I\u2019s cherished attendant, Jane Fool, and from loyal servants such <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.historyextra.com\/period\/elizabethan\/7-things-you-probably-didnt-know-about-elizabeth-i\/&quot;\">Elizabeth I<\/a>\u2019s childhood nurse, Blanche Parry, to the so-called \u2018flouting wenches\u2019 such as <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.historyextra.com\/period\/tudor\/lettice-knollys-elizabeth-i-nemesis-enemy-robert-dudley-love-triangle\/&quot;\">Lettice Knollys<\/a> and Bess Throckmorton who seduced her closest favourites.<\/p>\n<h4>Tracy Borman is a best-selling author and historian, specialising in the Tudor period.\u00a0Dr Borman has presented a number of history programmes for Channel 5.
