The previous day Elizabeth had ridden in state from the <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.historyextra.com\/period\/victorian\/anne-boleyn-guy-fawkes-and-the-princes-a-brief-history-of-the-tower-of-london\/&quot;\">Tower of London<\/a> to Whitehall in a display of pageantry that cost the Queen alone the sum of \u00a316,000.
