Hogarth’s Britons: Succession, Patriotism and the Jacobite Rebellion
William Hogarth is often regarded as one of Britain’s greatest artists, famous for creating works imbued with sharp social satire. This new exhibition at Derby Museum & Art Gallery brings together some of Hogarth’s most celebrated pieces, with a focus on the 1745 Jacobite rebellion, when supporters of the exiled Stuart dynasty invaded England in a bid to overthrow the Hanoverian regime. Notably, Derby would be their final stop before retreating to Scotland – a link explored in the display.

Rendlesham Revealed: The Heart of a Kingdom AD 400–800
The Suffolk village of Rendlesham was once the site of England’s wealthiest Anglo-Saxon royal settlement. This new exhibition, at nearby Sutton Hoo, highlights its importance and showcases an array of never-before-seen items, including gold jewellery, sword fittings and pottery.
