Get ready for a trip in the TARDIS on Christmas Eve! The Doctor Who Prom is on TV…
One of the biggest hits at this year’s BBC Proms was a celebration of everyone’s favourite Time Lord as the Royal Albert Hall is paid a visit by the TARDIS and a barnstorming programme of original music from Doctor Who by composers Murray Gold and Segun Akinola. If you weren’t lucky enough to get a ticket, you can watch it the whole thing on TV on Christmas Eve!

What’s on the programme for the Doctor Who Prom?
This was Prom 47 & 48 at the 2024 BBC Proms today. That’s right, it was a double whammy of Time Lord tunes as the Proms welcomed back the Doctor Who Prom.
It marked the fourth visit to the Proms for Doctor Who, following memorable concerts in 2008, 2010 and 2013.
This year’s shows featured original music from the latest series of Doctor Who by composer Murray Gold, including his brilliant new themes for the Fifteenth Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby Sunday (played by Millie Gibson).
Audiences heard favourite themes from past adventures, including those written for David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi’s Time Lords, all composed by Gold between 2005 and 2017.
Making his BBC Proms debut was composer Segun Akinola, whose music for Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor makes an appearance.

There were plenty of surprises and things to see on screen and in the hall itself – so you’ll have to wait and see.
Catherine Tate (Donna Noble in the show) presented the concert, and a monster or two will be lurking in the aisles.
Who is performing the music?
Doctor Who’s ‘house band’, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, perform the music, conducted by Alastair King.
They are joined by the London Philharmonic Choir, soprano Aida Garifullina and singers Shahid Abbas Khan, Hollie Buhagiar, Lucie Jones and Tobias Turley.
When can you watch it on TV?
The Doctor Who Prom will be shown on BBC Two at 16:10 (4:10pm) on Christmas Eve and is available to watch on BBC iPlayer in the UK. You can also listen to the radio broadcast in BBC Sounds.
