What’s on at the BBC Proms today?
Today’s BBC Proms concert features Mahler‘s First Symphony, ‘The Titan’, which takes us through the wonder of nature and the pain of anguish. A complex psychological journey takes the work from despair to hope to blazing triumph.
The programme also includes the storm-tossed Overture to Wagner‘s Flying Dutchman, Missy Mazzoli’s reflection on time, Orpheus Undone, and the world premiere of Three, Four AND … by National Youth Orchestra resident artist Dani Howard.
Who is performing at tonight’s Prom?
Performers at Prom 30 include the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, comprising some of Britain’s most talented young players. They are joined by Musicians from NYO Inspire, a programme for teenagers who want music to be a bigger part of their lives but face barriers and lack of opportunity to progress.
Conducting the performances are Alexandre Bloch, music director of the Orchestre National de Lille, and Tess Jackson, associate conductor of the National Youth Orchestra.
