Cutting edge: Zubin Kanga records new music <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n

Linn Records <\/strong><\/em>had recordings at Perth Concert Hall and Glyndebourne in September. The latter was Smyth\u2019s opera The <\/em>Wreckers, <\/em>conducted by Robin Ticciati, while in Scotland the Dunedin Consort recorded motets by CPE Bach and Mozart\u2019s Mass in C minor. Both recordings are scheduled for release in the autumn of 2023. <\/p>\n\n

The Marian Consort, <\/strong><\/em>also signed to Linn relatively recently, is recording A <\/em>Winged <\/em>Woman. <\/em>It features commissions from Electra Perivolaris and Chloe Knibbs, among others, alongside pieces by the likes of Rebecca Clarke and James MacMillan. Rory McCleery oversees the singers for the new recording, which takes place at London\u2019s All Hallows, Gospel Oak, in November. <\/p>\n\n

Composer\/performer Zubin Kanga <\/strong><\/em>is in the middle of a major project which sees him recording works using cutting-edge technology and new instruments created by project partners. Composers such as Tansy Davies, Alex Groves and Ben Nobuto have written pieces, which Kanga began recording in the summer for the nonclassical label. <\/p>\n\n

Rameau is the focus of a recent recording by Edward Higginbottom <\/strong><\/em>for CRD Records. Presiding over the organ, he was joined by soprano Holly Teague and son Felix on percussion. The sessions, at Keble College, Oxford, saw them record a range of keyboard works and the composer\u2019s own reductions of music from his opera-ballet Les <\/em>indes <\/em>galantes. <\/em>CRD will release it in the spring. <\/p>\n\n

Chandos Records <\/strong><\/em>gathered an all-star line-up for its September recording of Mozart Piano Quartets. Pianist Federico Colli, violinist Francesca Dego, violist Timothy Ridout and cellist Laura van der Heijden got together at Suffolk\u2019s Potton Hall for the sessions, which were planned after a run of successful concerts in Italy.
