Anna Netrebko joins Valery Gergiev in stepping away from the concert hall because of her support of the Russian president Vladimir Putin. The Russian soprano has faced criticism for refusing to condemn the actions of Putin in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
She has announced that she will \u2018withdraw from concerts until further notice\u2019. Concerts at Hamburg\u2019s Elbe Philharmonic and Milan\u2019s La Scala have been postponed and cancelled.<\/p>\n
Neither Netrebko nor her husband Yusif Eyvazov will appear in La Scala\u2019s production of Cilea\u2019s opera\u00a0Adriana Lecouvreur\u00a0<\/em>this month.<\/p>\n She has also withdrawn from performances of\u00a0Macbeth\u00a0<\/em>at the Zurich Opera House.
