Among them will be the Queen\u2019s Birthday Parade, the lighting of Platinum Jubilee Beacons, the Service of Thanksgiving, the Derby at Epsom Downs, the Platinum Party at the Palace, the Big Jubilee Lunch and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When is the Platinum Jubilee Party at the Palace?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This will happen on Saturday 4 June in front of the Queen at Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What format will it take?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"&quot;p1&quot;\">As well actors from film, TV and the stage celebrating the significant cultural moments from The Queen\u2019s seven decade reign, the event will feature a huge range of music stars with a full, live orchestra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will it be open to the public?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>10,000 tickets were made available via <strong><a href=\"\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/articles\/2wsWnt1JVhX8j4XlLgMmNbh\/event-and-ticket-information&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">a ballot system<\/a><\/strong>. The event will also be broadcast on BBC One.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What classical music will be played at the party?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"&quot;p1&quot;\">Judging by previous Jubilee concerts, most of the programme is likely to consist of pop classics from big stars (think Robbie Williams, Ed Sheeran, Elton John etc). There will probably, however, be some high-impact appearances from the world of classical music. <strong><a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/entertainment-arts-36467980&quot;\">In a list<\/a> <\/strong>that was published on <strong><a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/articles\/her-majestys-music\/&quot;\">her 90th birthday in 2016<\/a><\/strong>, the Queen named the Regimental March by Milanollo as one of her favourite pieces of music, so perhaps this would be a good opportunity to hear it. There might also be works that were played at her Coronation, among them \u2018Jupiter\u2019 from Holst\u2019s <i>The Planets, <\/i>Elgar\u2019s <i>Pomp and Circumstance <\/i>marches and Handel\u2019s <i>Music for the Royal Fireworks. <\/i>And I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if the programme paid homage to the late Prince Philip with the inclusion of \u2018<a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/works\/a-guide-to-nimrod-from-elgars-enigma-variations\/&quot;\"><span class=\"&quot;s1&quot;\"><b>Nimrod<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u2019 from\u00a0Elgar\u2019s <em>Enigma Variations<\/em>, <strong><a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/articles\/music-for-royal-funerals-what-music-is-likely-to-be-played-at-prince-philips-funeral\/&quot;\">which was played at Philip\u2019s funeral last year.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<iframe title=\"&quot;Nimrod\" the=\"\" hunter=\"\" by=\"\" edward=\"\" elgar=\"\" prince=\"\" philip=\"\" funeral=\"\" service=\"\" width=\"&quot;200&quot;\" height=\"&quot;113&quot;\" src=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ilPvLCU9SE0?feature=oembed&quot;\" frameborder=\"&quot;0&quot;\" allow=\"&quot;accelerometer;\" autoplay=\"\" clipboard-write=\"\" encrypted-media=\"\" gyroscope=\"\" picture-in-picture=\"\" allowfullscreen=\"\"\/>\n<p class=\"&quot;p1&quot;\">At the Queen\u2019s <strong><a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/news\/choirbook-queens-diamond-jubilee\/&quot;\">Diamond Jubilee<\/a><\/strong> Concert in 2012, there were a few operatic hits, including \u2018Un Bel Di Vedremo\u2019 from Puccini\u2019s <em>Madama Butterfly<\/em>. So perhaps we\u2019ll get another Puccini belter: \u2018Nessun dorma\u2019 (<em>Turandot<\/em>)? Or \u2018O soave fanciulla\u2019 (<em>La boh\u00e8me<\/em>)? Or maybe a stirring Verdi number like the Chorus of Hebrew Slaves from <em>Nabucco<\/em>? But, given that no other British monarch has ever celebrated a reign as long as hers, the Queen might want to cast the net a little wider, perhaps even throwing in a musical nod to other long-ruling monarchs. For the occasion of Queen Victoria\u2019s Diamond Jubilee in 1897, the then 40-year-old <strong><a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/articles\/five-essential-works-elgar\/&quot;\">Edward Elgar<\/a><\/strong> was commissioned to write two works: his Imperial March and <em>The Banner of St Georg<\/em>e. Neither of these are now as frequently played as his <em>Pomp and Circumstance<\/em> marches.
