<\/p>
Jonas Kaufmann<\/a><\/strong> has been forced to withdraw from all performances of\u00a0Cavalleria Rusticana<\/em><\/a><\/strong> at London\u2019s Royal Opera House due to Covid-19.<\/p>\n The German tenor had announced a partial withdrawal on his Facebook page on 1 July: he was due to perform in both Leoncavallo\u2019s Pagliacci<\/em> and Mascagni\u2019s\u00a0Cavalleria<\/em>, programmed as a double bill, but initially decided to abandon Pagliacci<\/em>\u00a0and was replaced by Fabio Sartori. He had also cancelled the first two performances of Cavalleria<\/em>\u00a0on 5 and 8 July and was replaced by South Korean tenor SeokJong Baek.<\/p>\n Explaining that decision, he wrote on his Facebook page: \u2018Having caught Covid yet again, this time on top of an ongoing recovery from the flu, I have had to withdraw from the original plan of singing these wonderfully contrasting parts \u2013 Turiddu and Canio \u2013 in order to concentrate only on Cavalleria Rusticana<\/em> for my comeback.
