A total of 45 works have been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award across nine categories, including community projects and stage works. BBC Radio 3 presenter and <em>BBC Music Magazine<\/em> columnist <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/author\/tomservice\/&quot;\"><strong>Tom Service<\/strong><\/a>, who is joined by Radio 3 colleague Hannah Peel. The ceremony will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 19 November as part of the station\u2019s New Music Show, the station\u2019s weekly programme dedicated to the latest cutting-edge and experimental new music. The episode will also be available on BBC Sounds.<\/p>\n<p>Many of this year\u2019s nominated works use music to reflect on human experiences. Una Lee\u2019s\u00a0<em>Down Gone<\/em>\u00a0explores themes of racism and sexism, Liz Dilnot Johnson\u2019s\u00a0<em>When a Child is a Witness \u2013 Requiem<\/em> for Refugees\u00a0commemorates children affected by war displacement, whilst Laurence Osborn\u2019s\u00a0<em>Essential Relaxing Classical Hits<\/em>\u00a0is about self-destruction in the age of late capitalism and social media.<\/p>\n<p>Climate change and the natural world are also prominent in the nominated works. Pieces that address the environment include <em>Daylighting<\/em>\u00a0by Louise Drewett,\u00a0<em>Scenes from the Wild<\/em> by Cheryl Frances-Hoad (pictured top), <em>Houses Slide<\/em>\u00a0by Laura Bowler,\u00a0<em>CORALe<\/em>\u00a0by Benjamin Graves,\u00a0<em>This Unquiet Autumn<\/em>\u00a0by Lara Agar,\u00a0<em>Beacons<\/em>\u00a0by Emily Peasgood,\u00a0<em>Natural World<\/em>\u00a0by
