Conductor Paavo J\u00e4rvi is to extend his tenure as music director of Switzerland\u2019s Tonhalle-Orchester Z\u00fcrich<\/strong><\/a> until 2029.<\/p>\n Since starting in the role in 2019\/20, J\u00e4rvi has led the orchestra in performances across a wide range of repertoire from Mendelssohn to Adams, via Tchaikovsky, Bruckner and Messiaen.<\/p>\n <\/p><\/div> <\/section> His tenure has also seen an increased investment in concert streaming, while the Tonhalle\u2019s residencies have also been enthusiastically received. \u2018J\u00e4rvi\u2019s Bruckner performances have their very own character,\u2019 wrote the Hamburger Abendblatt<\/em> of the orchestra\u2019s recent Elbphilharmonie performances. \u2018While listening, one breathes along with the musicians and the conductor, who needs very few gestures to achieve the desired results.\u2019<\/p>\n\n
