One cannot separate the magic of Walt Disney movies from their accompanying iconic Disney soundtracks.<\/strong><\/p>

More often than not, it is the music that enhances our understanding of the Disney viewing experience, and with the remake of The Little Mermaid now on release, scored by the original movie\u2019s composer Alan Menken, we\u2019re delving into the archives.<\/p>

Here, then, are the best and most memorable Disney soundtracks from the studio\u2019s illustrious history.<\/p>

10. The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)<\/h3>

In 10th place and kicking off the top 10 is The Hunchback of Notre Dame. <\/em>Disney\u2019s bracingly mature adaptation of Victor Hugo\u2019s classic novel benefits immeasurably from Alan Menken\u2019s highly dramatic score, one of his finest for a Disney animation.<\/p>

Avant-garde<\/a> <\/strong>choral chants and impassioned string arias<\/a><\/strong> mesh smoothly with the songs co-written by Menken and Stephen Schwartz (\u2018Out There\u2019, \u2018God Help the Outcasts\u2019, \u2018Hellfire\u2019), which both lament the tragedy and celebrate the humanity of the titular Quasimodo. Both Menken and Schwartz were Oscar<\/a><\/strong> nominated for their efforts.<\/p>
