It was a triumphant and joyous night at the 2024 BBC Music Magazine Awards<\/a><\/strong> in London on Thursday, 18 April.<\/p> The winners of the 19th annual BBC Music Magazine Awards, in association with Bang & Olufsen, have been announced at a star-studded ceremony at London\u2019s Kings Place. The only classical music recording awards in which the main categories are voted for by the public, this year\u2019s BBC Music Magazine Awards shine the spotlight on some of the most dazzling, adventurous and beautifully performed recordings of 2023.<\/p> The winners of the 2024 BBC Music Magazine Awards were announced at a live ceremony at London\u2019s Kings Place, hosted by\u00a0BBC Music Magazine\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>editor\u00a0Charlotte Smith\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Radio 3\u00a0<\/strong>presenter\u00a0Tom Service<\/strong>, and featured live performances from\u00a0Newcomer Award\u00a0<\/strong>winner\u00a0George Xiaoyuan Fu\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Chamber Award\u00a0<\/strong>winners the\u00a0Calidore String Quartet<\/strong>, plus guest presenters including\u00a0Clive Myrie<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Katie Derham<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Tim McInnerny<\/strong>,\u00a0Tasmin Little<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Nicky Spence<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p> There were plenty of laughs from the speeches. Comedian Kieran Hodgson<\/strong> did a frankly uncanny impression of Tom Service, while Instrumental<\/a><\/strong> category winner Sean Shibe<\/strong> managed to seamlessly fold an unexpected cat arrival into his pre-recorded acceptance speech. <\/p> Here’s a little video with some of the highlights from a brilliant night.<\/p>
