Albania’s national hymn is ‘Himni i Flamurit’, which translates as ‘Hymn to the Flag’. It was adopted as such in 1912. The music to the hymn has its origins in the Romanian patriotic song ‘Pe-al nostru steag e scris Unire’, which was written by the Romanian composer Ciprian Porumbescu. The lyrics, meanwhile, were composed by the Albanian poet Aleksand\u00ebr Stavre Drenova, better known as Asdreni. The anthem’s original name was ‘ was originally titled ‘Betimi mbi Flamur’, which translates as the similar ‘The Pledge on the Flag’).<\/p>
