Something of a visionary, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/articles\/william-blake-poet\">Blake's poetry has inspired various composers<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p><p>Most famous among these was <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/composers\/hubert-parry\">Hubert Parry<\/a><\/strong>, who used the words of Blake's poem to compose his famous and much-loved hymn <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/articles\/jerusalem-lyrics\">Jerusalem<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. Other composers to have found inspiration in Blake's poetry include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/composers\/ralph-vaughan-williams\"><strong>Vaughan Williams<\/strong><\/a>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/composers\/benjamin-britten-composer\">Britten<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/composers\/stockhausen-5\">Stockhausen<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/composers\/john-tavener\">John Tavener<\/a><\/strong>... and one of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/artists\/best-folk-singers\">most famous folk singers of all time<\/a><\/strong>, the great Bob Dylan.<\/p><p>We can expect an evening of heavenly harmonies and shimmering beauty as Whitacre himself conducts the\u00a0famous <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/features\/artists\/bbc-singers\">BBC Singers<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and an ensemble of strings and percussion.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Eternity in an Hour, Movement 2 Exploration\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oEmn3Mssg_o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen=\"\"\/><\/div><\/figure><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is performing at the BBC Proms tonight?<\/h2><p>The performers for <em>Eternity in an Hour <\/em>include the string orchestra 12 Ensemble, and the much-loved BBC Singers. This is a perfect fit because, as we reported recently, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.classical-music.com\/news\/eric-whitacre-bbc-singers-artist-in-residence\">Whitacre has just been made artist-in-residence with the BBC Singers<\/a><\/strong>. They are joined by pianist Christopher Glynn.
