Kantorow delves deep into the gothic darkness of \u2018Die Stadt\u2019 and \u2018Am meer\u2019, his sound ideally creating the atmosphere. \u2018Der M\u00fcller und der Bach\u2019 is phrased with declamatory freedom\u00a0 and fantasy, as is \u2018Fr\u00fchlingsglaube\u2019, where Kantorow passes silky legato between the registers and fills the textures with exquisitely gradated points of light.<\/p>
