In case fans of\u00a0The Crown\u00a0<\/em>hadn\u2019t had enough of the trials and tribulations of the Royal Family over the years, Pablo Larra\u00edn\u2019s new biopic of Diana, Princess of Wales, has recently hit cinemas. Unlike many other similar period films,\u00a0Spencer <\/em>features an unusually genre-bending score, composed by Radiohead\u2019s Jonny Greenwood. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who composed the music for\u00a0Spencer<\/em>?<\/h2>\n
The original score for\u00a0Spencer\u00a0<\/em>was written by Jonny Greenwood, the composer and Radiohead guitarist and keyboardist. It\u2019s been a busy time for Greenwood, who has also recently composed the score to\u00a0The Power of the Dog<\/em>, the western starring Benedict Cumberbatch, which was released around the same time as\u00a0Spencer.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
You might be familiar with his work if you\u2019ve seen films such as\u00a0Phantom Thread\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0You Were Never Really Here<\/em>, both of which were releasde in 2018 to widespread critical acclaim. He has since made a name for himself in the world of film music, but has recently started a new band and has continued working with Radiohead, with whom he has a new album out.<\/p>\n\n<p>Greenwood himself appears as a performer on the film soundtrack, playing the church organ.<\/p>\n<div class=\""page"\" title=\""Page\">\n<div class=\""layoutArea"\">\n<div class=\""column"\">\n<h2>What\u2019s the score for\u00a0<em>Spencer <\/em>like?<\/h2>\n<p>Jonny Greenwood\u2019s score for\u00a0<em>Spencer\u00a0<\/em>is wildly far-ranging in its approach. Its opening track, <em>Arrival<\/em>, is written in a free jazz style, before giving way to plaintive Baroque stylings in subsequent tracks, using string, trumpets and church organs.
