If the Hubble Space Telescope<\/a> is anything to go by, we\u2019re in for a treat this week. The James Webb Space Telescope<\/a> is due to release its very first full-colour images, following its launch in December and a series of calibration images.<\/p>\n

Though Hubble\u2019s images<\/a> were stunning, JWST is even more powerful, and so the images it produces should prove to be even better.<\/p>\n

After waiting over six months for these first photos to appear, we\u2019re all a bit impatient to see what this new telescope has captured. But when are they released, and how can we see them?<\/p>\n

When are the JWST\u2019s first images released?<\/h2>\n

NASA, ESA and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) will hold a press conference on\u00a012 July 2022<\/strong> at 3pm BST<\/strong>. The images will be released one by one during the press conference, and released on social media and on the space agencies\u2019 websites at the same time.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re feeling particularly impatient, then you can keep an eye on this countdown timer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

How can I watch the press conference?<\/h2>\n

The press conference will be live-streamed on NASA Live<\/a> and ESA Web TV<\/a>. As well as seeing the images, you\u2019ll get to hear from experts who will explain just what makes these images so exciting.<\/p>\n

Where can I see the images?<\/h2>\n

If you\u2019d prefer just to see the images, you can see them on NASA\u2019s website<\/a> as they\u2019re released. You can also follow NASA (Twitter<\/a>, Facebook<\/a>, Instagram<\/a>) and ESA (Twitter<\/a>, Facebook<\/a>, Instagram<\/a>) on social media and they\u2019ll pop up in your feed.<\/p>\n

Can I download and use the images?<\/h2>\n

If you want to get involved and share these new images around, you\u2019re in luck. The JWST team are offering easy download links and allowed all texts, graphics and images to be used freely as long as you attribute it to NASA and the STScl.<\/p>\n
