Meanwhile, females in Sumatra let out sounds known as \u2018kiss squeaks\u2019 and \u2018rolling calls\u2019 to alert others of potential predators.<\/p>\n<p>In both cases the apes were capable of making both sounds at the same time, a technique used by human beatboxers to mimic electronic drum machines and other instruments.<\/p>\n<iframe title=\"&quot;Orangutan\" final=\"\" adriano=\"\" r.=\"\" lameira=\"\" and=\"\" madeleine=\"\" hardus.=\"\" width=\"&quot;200&quot;\" height=\"&quot;113&quot;\" src=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1cREQOiz6eI?feature=oembed&quot;\" frameborder=\"&quot;0&quot;\" allow=\"&quot;accelerometer;\" autoplay=\"\" clipboard-write=\"\" encrypted-media=\"\" gyroscope=\"\" picture-in-picture=\"\" web-share=\"\" allowfullscreen=\"\"\/>\n<p>\u201cHumans use the lips, tongue, and jaw to make the unvoiced sounds of consonants, while activating the vocal folds in the larynx with exhaled air to make the voiced, open sounds of vowels,\u201d said <a href=\"\/\/warwick.ac.uk\/fac\/sci\/psych\/people\/alameira\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot;
