The Sun is due south at midday UT. See the <a href=\"navto:\/\/index\/40\">Sky Guide Challenge<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"sans-serif article-subhead\">18 <strong>Tuesday<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"article-full-body sans-serif\">Venus is north of the Hyades. Earlier, at 12:30 BST (11:30 UT), the pair are 0.7\u00b0 apart.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"sans-serif article-subhead\">25 <strong>Tuesday<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"article-full-body sans-serif\">This evening and into tomorrow morning, just before they set, the 32%-lit waxing crescent Moon sits close to mag. +1.3 Mars. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"sans-serif article-subhead\">27 <strong>Thursday<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"article-full-body sans-serif\">This evening\u2019s first quarter Moon sits 3\u00b0 north of the <span>Beehive Cluster, M44.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<div class=\"no-tts wp-block-image article-in-image photo\"><figure class=\"no-tts aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2023\/03\/montes-spitzbergen.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"no-tts wp-image-43369\" width=\"465\" height=\"715\" srcset=\"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2023\/03\/montes-spitzbergen.png 587w, https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2023\/03\/montes-spitzbergen-195x300.png 195w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<h4 class=\"sans-serif article-subhead\">28 <strong>Friday<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"article-full-body sans-serif\">Although not ideally placed, a telescope view of the Moon this morning will show a good presentation of this month\u2019s Moonwatch target, Montes Spitzbergen. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"sans-serif article-subhead\">30 <strong>Sunday<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p class=\"article-full-body sans-serif\">Minor planet 7 Iris reaches opposition, when it will be shining at mag. +9.6 against the stars of Libra. <\/p>\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-uagb-section uagb-section__wrap uagb-section__background-color uagb-block-d4105eb3-31ab-4b9c-b3d9-8423c335578e article-boxout\"><div class=\"uagb-section__overlay\"><\/div><div class=\"uagb-section__inner-wrap\">\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-center sans-serif article-subhead\">Family stargazing <\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Venus will appear near the beautiful Pleiades open cluster this month. This is conveniently placed and timed in the evening sky. Closest approach is on 10 April, but the approach and separation can be seen on the days before and after this. If it\u2019s clear, head outside and suggest making a drawing of the encounter based on what can be seen with the naked eye.
