Credit: Unistellar<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>With the announcement of the Odyssey range of telescopes and their &#8216;High Precision Optics&#8217;, co-developed with Nikon, Unistellar says that no manual adjustment of mirrors is required.<\/p><p>The other key innovation being highlighted at the time of the Odyssey&#8217;s release is its &#8216;Stellar Autofocus&#8217;, which offers a fully automated system that incorporates a &#8216;smart algorithm&#8217; and motorised sensor.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2024\/02\/ODYSSEY-PRO_Moon-1024x768.png?fit=800%2C600\" alt=\"The Moon, captured using the Unistellar Odyssey Pro. Credit: Unistellar<\/figcaption><\/figure><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-automated-system\"><strong>Automated system<\/strong><\/h2><p>Those who have used the Unistellar range of &#8216;smart telescopes&#8217; &#8211; and others like it &#8211; will be familiar with how they work.<\/p><p>These observing instruments are really telescopes for the digital, online age: fully automated and controlled with a smartphone or tablet via the telescope&#8217;s own in-built Wi-Fi.<\/p><p>Once setup is complete, users can use the control app on their smart device to access a database of celestial objects including planets, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyatnightmagazine.com\/space-science\/a-guide-to-galaxies\">galaxies<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyatnightmagazine.com\/space-science\/beginners-guide-nebulae\">nebulae<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyatnightmagazine.com\/space-science\/a-guide-to-comets\">comets<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyatnightmagazine.com\/space-science\/asteroids\">asteroids<\/a>.<\/p><p>Select a target and the telescope slews directly to it.<\/p><p>It then captures a series of images and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skyatnightmagazine.com\/astrophotography\/astrophoto-tips\/a-guide-to-astrophotography-stacking\">stacks<\/a> them in real time, producing ever-sharper views of the object.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2024\/02\/ODYSSEY_Orion-Nebula-1024x768.jpg?fit=800%2C600\" alt=\"The Orion Nebula, captured using the Unistellar Odyssey Pro.
