The April 8 solar eclipse<\/a> that appeared over North America this week has been one of the highlights of the astronomy calendar.<\/p>

Travel writer Yvette Cook made her way to Kerrville, Texas, to share her experience of the solar eclipse with us<\/a>, but the rest of the BBC Sky at Night Magazine team could only stare in awe at the incredible images that rolled in via social media before, during and after totality.<\/p>

From our office in a very drizzly southwest of England, glorious images of clear skies and total solar eclipses were a welcome relief.<\/p>

There were even photos of the April 8 eclipse from space<\/a>!<\/p>
