Who goes there?

My wife and I encountered this stag being very vocal while on a trip to see the rut at Glen Lyon. I was hidden in a copse, but he heard me when I stepped on a branch and it broke. He came to within about 50m of my position to sound out one final threatening bellow before galloping back to his herd. It was an exhilarating moment and I was very glad to catch his final pose. A truly stunning animal.

Monitoring the lizard

I saw this monitor lizard perched on a termite mound while I was exploring Hubli in India. The lizard disappeared into the mound soon after I spotted it and I waited nearly two hours to get this shot of it emerging.

It was a wonderful experience to see a monitor lizard in its natural habitat.

Bit of a stretch

This was taken on a trip to Lake Kerkini in Greece, where this fantastic pelican was gliding through the water, casting amazing reflections.

I had to lean out of a fishing boat and keep my camera just above the water to get this low perspective.

Friends in low places

I was crawling on the ground searching for unusual insects after the rain when this yellow weevil caught my eye.

A second later, this amazing beetle scurried away. It was a great experience and I managed to capture it with the help of my Nikon D7500, a macro lens, and lots of patience.

Perfect subject

I took this image near Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. I’d only just set up my tripod when this black bear came out of the forest and sat down on the rock.

Dinner invitation

Every spring for the last three years, this roadrunner catches food and calls for a female to eat it. Sadly, there isn’t one in the area. I hope his hard work pays off soon.

Hidden in plain sight

During our visit to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, my wife and I spotted this caterpillar, which was so well camouflaged that it took us some time to make out. It was kind enough to let us get some good shots before it left to munch on some leaves.
