FROM THE BBC WILDLIFE ARCHIVE: January 1988
Brock capital
With about 350 setts and 200 adult animals, Bristol is declared the badger capital of Britain by Stephen Harris in the January 1988 issue of BBCWildlife. ‘The Metro Sett’ feature links to a BBC programme on urban badgers called Brocksideand includes images that show the relationship between badgers and humans in the city: “The Slaters have been visited by their nocturnal neighbours almost every day for 27 years… Now, at least half the badgers have supper indoors. It takes an hour to prepare the food (one badger can consume the equivalent of 16 buns in a sitting).”
