To celebrate our 60th birthday, here at BBC Wildlife magazine, we asked 60 people from our wonderful network of writers, presenters, photographers and conservationists to share their favourite places in the UK for wildlife. Two of those places are in Northern Ireland.

This beautiful corner of the UK is famous for the its gorgeous valleys and stunning coastlines, all teaming with wildlife. Vote for the one you love the most below.

Our favourite wildlife destinations in Northern Ireland

Lough Erne

Lough Erne is one of the few remaining strongholds for breeding waders in Northern Ireland. It is here in springtime that one can still hear the bubbling sound of the curlew coming from the islands – a call of the wild that for me seems to connect viscerally in much the same way as the howl of the wolf. Lapwings tumble through the air accompanied by their evocative calls.

Causeway Coast, Northern Ireland

The Causeway Coast is a wild place of outstanding natural beauty with wild dunes and sheer cliffs, plus the amazing rock formations at the magnificent Giant’s causeway. It is a coastline to meander along -by land or by sea – keeping an eye out for whales, dolphins and basking sharks. While at Ulster University I spent some of my most memorable days here, in and under the water – catching waves in Portrush, snorkelling with curious seals and scuba diving.
