Wildlife Photographer of the Year, run by the Natural History Museum in London, is considered the premier competition in the world of nature photography. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is a showcase of winning and highly commended images from the competition. These showcase both the incredible talent of the photographer, but more importantly the wonders of the natural world, and the impact humans are having on it.
The exhibition brings together images from locations and photographers all around the world, with categories including animal portraits, behaviour, photojournalism and portfolio. There is an overall winner – Wildlife Photographer of the Year – and an overall winner for younger photographers with the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year award.
The majority of the images are selected by a jury of photographers, editors, journalists, conservationists and scientists. The People’s Choice award is selected by public vote, and is always a moving, striking image.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition at the Natural History Museum, London
The exhibition will be on show at the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, London, until the 5th June 2022.
Tickets range from £9.25 for children to £15.50 for adults, with an optional donation to the Museum as an extra and concessionary rates available for seniors, disabled persons, students, jobseekers and National Art Pass members. Children under 3 years old, Natural History Museum Members, Patrons and Corporate Supporters visit for free.
Timed slots are available from 10am with last admission at 4.30pm, with the museum closing at 5.50pm. Most visits to this exhibition take on average 1.5 hours.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year online exhibition
If you can’t make it to see these incredible photographs in person, then the Natural History Museum has also created an online gallery of winning images for you to enjoy at home. From towering and wild mountain peaks to duelling insects, the images are truly stunning and a reminder of the beauty and fragility of our natural world.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition in Bristol
See 100 powerful images of our wild planet and the impact we have on it at the M Shed in Bristol. The exhibition runs from the 27th November 2021 to the 5th June 2022.
It’s ticketed, with set dates and time slots available. Tickets are £7 per adult, £5 for concessions and under 16s are free. There is also 50% off the adult ticket price for students and 16 – 24 year olds.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition in Cardiff
The National Museum Cardiff will host the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition from the 27th May 2022 to the 29th August 2022.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition UK Tour 2022
In addition to London, Bristol and Cardiff, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition will be on tour throughout 2022 at galleries and museums across the UK, including Seaton, Waltham Abbey and Whitehaven.
