Despite the colourful collective nouns available for ravens, most people use \u2018flock\u2019 <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n

THE TERM \u2018AN UNKINDNESS OF RAVENS\u2019 most likely comes from a false 19th-century theory that ravens were uncaring parents, prematurely expelling their young from their nests. Their association with bad luck, Halloween and death stems from their jet-black colour, ever-watchful eyes and scavenging around dead things. Their other collective nouns include \u2018rave\u2019, \u2018treachery\u2019 and \u2018conspiracy\u2019. <\/p>\n\n
