Water vole droppings have a putty-like texture <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n

Water vole droppings are found grouped together in latrines, which they use to mark their territories, and measure 8-12mm long. They can be confused with rat poo, but have blunt ends and are green-black in colour whereas rat droppings are larger, smelly and brown-black in colour. \u201cWater vole droppings are odourless, so they mark their territories by rubbing their hind feet on scent glands and drumming them into their droppings, leaving a flattened appearance,\u201d says Emily Sabin from the People\u2019s Trust for Endangered Species.<\/p>\n\n
