Instead, they have networks of nerves that send signals around the body so that, for example, a single tentacle can deftly move a piece of prey to the invertebrate\u2019s mouth.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jerboa<\/h3><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2121\" height=\"1414\" src=\"https:\/\/c02.purpledshub.com\/uploads\/sites\/62\/2024\/02\/Jerboa.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-95558\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Getty images<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>These weird-looking &#8211; but cute &#8211; leggy rodents live in the deserts of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/North_Africa\">North Africa<\/a>\u00a0and Asia. And these long legs come in useful when chased as they help generate speeds of up to 24\u00a0km\/h.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Johnson&#8217;s abyssal seadevil<\/h3><figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The anglerfish: The original approach to deep-sea fishing\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VqPMP9X-89o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"\"\/><\/div><\/figure><p>Anything going by the name of Johnson\u2019s abyssal seadevil is unlikely to score highly on the cute-and-cuddly scale. Though, to be fair, this one looks as terrified as it does terrifying.
