This high-protein secretion is produced by worker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/insects-invertebrates\/facts-about-honeybees-beekeeping\">honeybees<\/a> from the two hypopharyngeal glands, just inside the mouth. <\/strong><\/p><p>The glands are long, coiled tubes, each with about 550 secretory lobes emptying into a single duct.<\/p><p>Despite its name, royal jelly (also called brood food) is fed to all grubs for the first three days of life. <\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/insects-invertebrates\/how-do-bees-make-honey\">How do bees make honey?
