But no one knows for certain.<\/strong><\/p><p>Ducks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/birds\/facts-about-house-sparrows\">sparrows<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/reptiles\/crocodile-vs-alligator\">crocodiles<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/fish\/where-and-when-to-see-leaping-salmon-in-the-uk\"> salmon<\/a> and lizards have all been shown to become physically fitter following laboratory training regimes. In the wild, fitness levels vary. <\/p><p>Some animals can maintain their form even after lengthy periods of inactivity; polar bears, for instance, retain body strength during months of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/what-is-hibernation\">hibernation<\/a>. <\/p><p>Others lose it easily: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/birds\/facts-about-king-penguins\">king penguins<\/a>, for example, experience considerable muscle loss while on land for the breeding season and must bulk up quickly once they return to the water.<\/p><p>Intriguingly, wild rodents will use hamster wheels placed in their habitats. But this might have more to do with inquisitiveness than fitness. <\/p> <\/body><\/html>\n<hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do any animals exercise to stay fit?
