It belongs to the family Hylobatidae, which translates rather nicely from the Greek as \u2018one who treads the forest\u2019.<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/mammals\/smallest-monkeys-primates\">What are the smallest monkeys and primates in the world? Loss of forest connectivity is therefore<br\/>a significant threat, leading to isolated populations and, in turn, genetic weakness.<\/p><p>Adult hoolocks are one of a number of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverwildlife.com\/animal-facts\/animals-that-mate-for-life\"> animals that mate for life <\/a>and live in small family groups comprising parents and offspring in territories of 50-60 hectares, occasionally 200-400 hectares.
