The critically endangered halavi guitarfish could be extinct in a few years\u2019 time if nothing is done to save it, say scientists <\/p>

Scientists are racing against the clock to protect a fish with a trowel for a face before time runs out for this critically endangered species.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Professor Carlos Duarte is leading a team of experts at\u00a0Red Sea Global<\/a>\u00a0trying to save the halavi\u00a0guitarfish (Glaucostegus halavi<\/em>). Without intervention, this critically endangered ray could be extinct in just a few years.<\/p>

Researchers are using including acoustic tagging and smart monitoring systems to understand the movement of the guitarfish in\u00a0Al Wajh lagoon, Saudi Arabia\/Alexander Kattan, Red Sea Global\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>
