One Shop Stop
Every issue, Cycling Plus gives some love to Britain’s best independent bike shops
Flamme Rouge
Bedford
History
Opened in 2015, partnering with Trek, as a specialist roadbike shop and club. Online presence soon developed and is increasingly important.
What makes this shop special?
‘We’re customer-service led’, says owner Jamie Quiggin, ‘and we want to encourage as many people into cycling as possible. In lockdown we launched a white-glove delivery service – it’s proved so successful we’ve expanded, and now deliver bikes for 15 other bike shops nationally.’
What’s in store?
‘People come for chat and advice as much as they do bikes and parts. Recently we added Cervélo to our brands and it’s proved really popular. We’re also key partners with Cycle Exchange in Kingston, so we can offer part-exchange when buying a bike, both online and in the shop.’
A club feel
‘We run rides three times a week with around 30 people turning up for each. As in 2022, 2023 will see a trip to Spain as one of the club’s many activities.’
