While the BikeRadar Podcast usually deals with the high-tech, high-speed worlds of mountain biking, road cycling and gravel riding, it’s easy to forget that the humble bicycle is a really good way of getting out into the countryside and immersing yourself in the natural world.
In this episode of the podcast, technical editor Tom Marvin met up with Fergus Collins, editor of Countryfile Magazine and their own, excellent, Plodcast, and went for a ride around the Forest of Dean – an area brimming with natural diversity.
It was fairly eye-opening for Tom, who usually keeps his eyes aimed firmly at the forest’s twisting singletrack, and turned into one of his most memorable forest rides. It was also an opportunity to introduce Fergus to the utility of an electric mountain bike as a way of accessing natural spots without relying on a car or a long hike, with Tom and Fergus riding the new Specialized Turbo Tero.
