Polish gravel bike specialist Rondo has launched the MYLC – a new gravel buster designed for tougher terrain – just ahead of the 2022 Eurobike trade show.

The new bike draws inspiration from modern mountain bike design, with geometry geared towards offering maximum stability and comfort on gnarly terrain.

Rondo says the MYLC is pitched primarily towards “explorers” and those looking for a “complete off-road experience”. It is claimed to be easier to ride on steeper and rockier descents.

The MYLC is set to be available in two carbon builds, plus one aluminium and one steel version each.

Prices will start from £2,199 / €2,399 for the alloy bike, topping out at £4,499 / €4,899 for the top-spec CF2 carbon-framed model.

Rondo has a reputation for producing gravel bikes with a difference, such as the Rondo Ruut CF1. The MYLC appears no different, and is said to diverge from the beefed-up road bike norm.

Instead, it has been designed to embody the spirit of a mountain bike, which Rondo says makes the MYLC a more capable gravel bike this side of a suspension-equipped MTB.

The Polish brand says that its efforts have yielded a bike that is more stable at speed, more capable of tackling gravelled corners and steep rocky descents, able to shrug off trail obstacles, and more comfortable over longer distances compared to a more traditional gravel-bike design.

Enhanced Gravel Geometry

At the core of the MYLC is Enhanced Gravel Geometry (EGG), which is claimed to deliver the bike’s easy-going handling characteristics.

A slack 68-degree head tube angle combined with a lengthened front-centre measurement is claimed to offer predictable and steady handling.

Compared to Rondo’s own road-inspired Ruut gravel bike, the front-centre is between 70 and 90mm longer, which also contributes to the MYLC’s long wheelbase, which should make the MYLC more stable over rough surfaces.

The MYLC’s reach is 40mm longer than an equivalent-size Ruut – measuring 420mm in a size medium in the brand’s ‘Lo’ geometry configuration.

Rondo also features a ‘Hi’ geometry option for the MYLC, achievable thanks to the variable TwinTip front axle. Putting the front axle into the ‘Hi’ position pushes the front wheel marginally forward, further relaxing the handling.

Built for comfort

Alongside its EGG and adjustable TwinTip front axle, the MYLC frame features a shortened seat tube to enable greater flex through the seatpost, while presenting a squatter standover height.

At the same time, Rondo has made the seat tube compatible with a dropper post, offering greater capability to ride steeper, more technical descents.

Every frame has built-in clearance for up to 700c x 47mm tyres, with 40mm Vittoria Terreno rubber fitted as standard.
